Students’ Achievement in DUE5012 Communicative English 3: An Analysis at Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah

Abstract

DUE5012 Communicative English 3 is one of the compulsory courses that must be taken by Politeknik Malaysia students before they graduate. The main aims of the course are to prepare and equip the students for their future with necessary skills and knowledge, especialy in anaylising and interpreting garphs and charts as well as job hunting mechanics. This research aims to identify the status of students’ achievement for DUE5012 Communicative English 3 starting June 2019 to June 2019 session, as well as the highest percentage of students’ achievement according to deparment and obtain the students percentage for A+ (exceptional) and A (excellent). There were 2522 samples involved; there were sesmester four and five students from Politeknik Tuanku Sultanah bahiyah who registered for this course. The findings show that only 15.1% of the students obtained ‘Exceptional’ status and 19.5% of them obtained ‘Excellent’ status. Majority of the students (64.2%) obtained ‘Honors’ status. Only 1.4% and 0.4% of them obtained ‘Pass’ and ‘Fail’ status.
