Main Article Content
Abstract
This research investigated the classroom interaction and teacher talk in English lesson. This paper highlights the discovery of two language lessons handled by two English teachers to recognise the influence of interaction on the students’ learning in ESL classroom. Two English lessons were carried out to know whether the interactions took place in classroom affect the opportunities for students’ participation in language classroom. The lessons were recorded and transcribed to get the data required for the research. The findings indicated that teachers used more time to talk compared to students. In an ideal teaching and learning classroom, student talk is more
important to ensure the learning takes place effectively. Teachers should impose more questions and give time for the students to talk in order to let them think and eventually use the language.
